Our new best friend

People, people, people. WE HAVE A WHIPPET! I have been longing for one of these dogs since I was seven or eight and there was one in my neighbourhood. This little lass is more like a deer than a dog, but it's just her whippetish ways. She's nine months old and is still adjusting to her new home (our cat is going PLEASE LET THIS BE A BAD DREAM). 

I took her for a walk today (pushing Sadie in the stroller) and I ended up carrying the dog 50 percent of the time while I tried to push the stroller with one hand. I know I got some sideways looks from a few drivers. 

So her name. Well, we're still pinning that down. Here are a few that are in the running:

1. Coconut to be called "Coco"

2. Milah

3. Milly

4. Winnie (the wayfaring whippet)

Got any suggestions? I'd love to hear them.

Jet-Setters

This week has been full of travels for several residents of the Meadow of Misfits. 

Rebecca and Izzy are off to California and will be parting ways with each other there. One has been adopted by a six-month old, and the other, a two year old. Though she's not one to take tranquilizers, Rebecca is scared stiff for her first airborne experience and has taken to horizontal relaxation exercises to calm her nerves. They are both hoping that the cargo hold is as well-appointed as it sounds. Izzy prefers to spell it Cargot H'olde.

AND Cristi, the consolation round winner of my giveaway last month, wrote a wonderful post about Beru's arrival in her Oklahoma home. Here's one of her photos, but you can see the whole lot over at her charming blog, Felix & Jayne.

Finally, here is Lewis, keeping watch over the sweet and sleepy Amir-Ali in Vancouver (maybe Lewis is fending off the poltergeist that appears to be on the haunt in this photo.....kidding, it's taken with a camera phone and don't worry Amir-Ali, there are no ghosties in your room):

Thank you to Ada, Cristi and Ros for taking photos of these K & P creatures in their new homes and en route. It puts a smile on my face to see them and I honestly never would have thought at the beginning of all this, when I decided to make a bunny out of some wool, that these little misfits would be traveling to distant places, becoming companions to children and adults who are otherwise strangers to me. 

So here's to not being strangers, and owing it to misfits.

I missed my girl today

While I spent the day galavanting around the Cowichan Valley wineries with my girlfriends, Sadie and Scott tucked in to some serious father/daughter time. It was the longest I'd ever been away from her and I definitely missed those little sumo thighs. 

Attention all Vancouverites!

As of today, I am pleased to announce that the Barefoot Contessa boutique (not a cooking store) on Main Street is now carrying Koo & Poppet. The Commercial Drive location will likely have some on the shelves within the next couple of weeks. You can find a variety of delicious items in store; home decor, designer clothes, bath products, novelties and kid stuff, to name a few. If you're in the hood, please pop in and take a peek!

Happy weekend everyone. On Sunday, I am being whisked away to tour wineries for a friend's bachelorette party! The dress code is big hats and big heels....I'll post some photos next week.

Koo & Poppet Headquarters

Here are some new Kollector Koos waiting their turn on the stuffage assembly line. I finished them up last night.

And today, these beasties hopped a plane to Vancouver! Soon they will be strutting their stuff in some amazing baby boutiques :)

One day, maybe Koo & Poppet HQ will be a little more impressive....but for now my living room will have to suffice as the Design & Production floor.
